Our Urgent Missionary needs

Recently, I spoke to our Vicar General in Rome and asked her what are our most urgent missionary needs. She spoke to me, first of all, about our Sisters who are in many of the poor countries: they receive no stipend or pay for their work, or pension for their retirement, and are in need of support.

She also spoke of 3 specific African countries where we are in greatest need: Eritrea, Egypt, and Guinea Bissau where we have houses, schools, and clinics.

  • In Eritrea, which is in North Africa, bordering Ethiopia, we have around 20 Sisters who also take care of 10 High School girls. Recently, our school and sewing workshop were closed.

  • In Egypt: we have 5 clinics where our Sisters are nurses, and funds are needed to pay the Doctors who work there, and for medicines and equipment, and especially to pay for the poor who come to our clinics and cannot pay for themselves.

  • In Guinea Bissau, which is in West Africa, near Senegal, we have 4 houses, and about 10 Sisters. There we have a Maternity clinic and other clinics where they are fighting Malaria. The people need medicines and we need money to run the clinics. We also have a school, Kindergarten to Middle School, where the children are poor and families cannot pay for their education or food.

Your prayer is certainly needed, as well as any contributions you could give so as to help.
